PDO Smooth Threads
Get smoother, tighter skin
MINT MONO threads are smooth monofilament stimulating threads, pre-threaded onto a small needle. They are made fro polydiaxanone, or PDO, which has been used in surgery for more than 30 years.
It’s an easy, minimally invasive procedure that is designed to restructure the dermis of the skin, stimulate collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother, tighter skin. The threads are inserted in a mesh like fashion to provide support and structure to the skin. Once the needle is removed, the fine thread stays in place. What this means is when placed into areas that need extra tightening, collagen forms all around the threads, providing tightening in the skin. The thread dissolves over the coming months, leaving newly formed collagen which firms and tightens up the skin area.
While mono threads tighten the skin, they do not significantly lift it.
PDO threads can be used virtually anywhere on the face or body. Some results are noticeable straight away however the full effect can be seen at around 3 months after your treatment.
MINT MONO threads are versatile and can be used in many areas across the face and body. Treatment areas include:

Potential Risks and Complications
There are a number of potential risks that you should be aware of prior to being treated with MINT MONO.
As with other similar treatments there are a number of possible side effects associated with MINT MONO. These side effects include but are not limited to:
- Bruising: patients should anticipate bruising with this treatment
- Redness for several hours following treatment
- Localised swelling can occur after the treatment; however, this should settle in 24 – 48 hours after the treatment
- Pain and discomfort: throughout the procedure and patients may experience some discomfort for several days afterwards as the threads settle, especially if this procedure is close to a nerve ending.
From time to time there are some unexpected complications with this treatment, these include but are not limited to:
- Nerve pain/neuralgia: Any time you are inserting an instrument or device beneath the skin (including surgery) there is a risk that you may brush past a nerve causing temporary irritation/aggravation of a nerve.
- Infection: It is rare for the skin to become infected after a procedure due to its rich blood supply. However, any time you break the skin barrier there is a risk of infection
