Skin Needling (Collagen Induction Therapy)

$350

Skin Needling Therapy (or otherwise known as dermal needling or collagen induction therapy CIT) is one of the most advanced skin rejuvenation therapies available today for the treatment of:

  • Fine Lines & wrinkles
  • Aged & sagging skin
  • Skin tightening & rejuvenation
  • Large pores
  • Scars (acne, surgical and burns)
  • Stretch Marks

As we age the natural production of the skins supporting cells, collagen and elastin naturally diminish which leads to wrinkles, sagging and hollows in the skin.

Stimulating the skin to produce more collagen and elastin is called collagen induction. Skin Needling using the Skinpen (which is a medical only device) with the use of prescription growth factors, takes this effective collagen induction to the next level resulting in amazing results.

How Does Skin Needling Work?

Micro-needling is one of the latest skin rejuvenation techniques. Here at Renew we use the Skinpen, the safest and most effective medical device for skin needling. A series of very fine needles in the pen cause micro-injuries to the skin, these trigger the natural healing process of your skin, promoting the production of collagen and elastin which tightens and smooths the skin. These microchannels also allow the penetration of products to get 80% deeper into the skin.

After treatment the skin usually looks and feels flushed as if lightly sunburnt this will settle within 12-48 hrs. Some light peeling can sometimes occur 3-5 days after treatment as the skin regenerates. Maintaining good skin hygiene practices, staying hydrated, moisturised and wearing sunscreen every day are essential. Improved skin smoothness is usually seen within a few days with ongoing results visible within a few weeks. The new collagen and skin improvements lasting for 1-2yr+ if taken as a series of treatments. You will see and feel a result from the first treatment. Collagen induction needling can be used to target the whole face, neck, décolletage and hands.

Research shows that after 4 treatments, you can have an increase of collagen of 400%

Why Choose Skin Needling as a Treatment?

During the treatment, 1300 micro channels are created in the skin per second with the help of 12 sterile disposable needles. How deep the needles go into the skin depends on what skin problem is being addressed. How many treatments are needed to see results is individual and depends on the patients own skin and depends on what skin problem is being treated. For best results we recommend 3-6 treatments with 4 weeks between treatments. Many clients love the results so much they do Skin Needling as their monthly facial.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Skin Needling?
Skin Needling, also called micro needling, is a treatment where you use needles to increase the skin’s production of collagen. The depth of the needles depends on which area and condition is being treated. Skinpen is for someone who wants a treatment against wrinkles, but also for someone who wants to even out skin texture (scars, stretch marks, enlarged pores, etc.) Dermal needling is essential in the health of your skin.
What do I need to know before my treatment?
Remember to avoid food rich in omega-3 fatty acids 3 days before your treatment and avoid ibuprofen 48 hours before your treatment. This is to avoid bruising in the skin during treatment. The bruises aren’t dangerous, but it can be aesthetically bothersome for some people.
What do I need to know for after my treatment?
After the treatment, you can return to normal activities. The possible reactions that you may experience a few days afterwards are dryness, flaky, slight redness and a little swelling. Because the treatment creates temporary microchannels and microbleeds in the skin, it is extremely important to think about hygiene and proper skin care after the treatment. Therefore, it is recommended that: • Avoid touching the treated area for the first hours • Avoid showering / bathing / cleaning the treated area on the same day as you are treated. • Switches to clean pillowcases • Use clean towels and dry the treated area for the first few days • Do not use makeup during the first 24hrs • Follow your Nurses recommendations regarding skin care products and your skin care routine Avoid the following activities for 48 hours after your needling treatment: • Direct UV exposure (sun or solarium), always use sunscreen when staying in the sun. • Hard physical training • Hot tub, jacuzzi or sauna. • Pool / chlorine water or swimming in the sea • Other skin care treatments, including fillers and botox. • Waxing, shaving or dyeing the treated area • Spraytan • Tattoo Do not use products containing AHA, BHA or PHA acids, retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, alcohol, hydroquinone for at least one week after your treatment.
How will I look after my treatment?
It is very individual. After the procedure your skin will be red and flushed in appearance in a similar way to moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area being treated. This will diminish greatly after a few hours following treatments and within the next 24 hours the skin will be completely healed. After 3 days there is barely any evidence that the procedure has taken place.
Is Skin Needling Safe?
Skin needling does not involve injections and therefore allergic reactions and side-effects are unlikely to occur. It is minimally invasive, involves minimal downtime (circa 24hrs), rapid healing and requires simple after-care.
When can I see results from my treatments?
It takes time for the collagen to build up in the skin and the improvement is successive. Over the next 6-12 months after a completed treatment, there will be continuous improvements in your skin. Each patient’s healing time varies, though most start to see results in one day to a week after treatment. Immediately after treatment, patients may notice a red appearance in the treatment area. Even a light treatment can enhance the appearance of skin texture and brighten your complexion.
