What is Cosmelan Peel?

Cosmelan is the world’s best selling depigmentation peel with over 1 million treatments done worldwide.

The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a unique, multi-ingredient chemical procedure designed to significantly reduce areas of hyperpigmentation and skin discolouration.

Cosmelan is a product that can treat all types of pigmentation such as melasma, post-inflammatory pigmentation, solar and senile lentigo (age spots) and freckles. Dull skin, dark spots, dry areas, blemishes, and even acne scars can all be significantly decreased with the peel. Cosmelan is a game-changer.

Key benefits of Cosmelan can include:

  • Reduction of all forms of pigmentation
Includes melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, senile lentigo and solar lentigo (age and sun spots), and ephelides (freckles)
  • Improving uneven skin tone
Creates a smoother and more even tone overall
  • Brightens and rejuvenates skin
Active ingredients also helps to brighten the skin, giving it a fresh and revitalised glow
  • Reduces acne scarring
The duality of corrective and regulating actions make it a unique, all-round treatment

Reduces fine line and wrinkles
The combination of active ingredients is also effective against signs of ageing

The process

Once you have had a consultation to ensure you are suitable for the Cosmelan peel, you will come in for a gentle resurfacing peel and will be started on the Mesoestetic Resurfacing Peel Booster which helps to remove dead skin cell and will ensure a more even peel result.

On the day of the Cosmelan peel, you will come into the clinic and the mask will be applied to your skin. The Cosmelan looks similar to a ‘mud mask’ so you will want to stay home with this on.This will stay on the skin for 8-12hrs (your nurse will let you know how long for your particular skin type) and then washed off at home with warm water.

You will be given 3 months worth of homecare products which will help you to manage the depigmentation process. You will initially experience skin swelling and redness which will calm after a couple of days and then the peeling process is generally day 3 and lasts 4-5 days with some people peeling up to 2 weeks.

You will be followed up in Clinic by our Registered Nurse 3-7 days later and given a hydration mask and LED light treatment to help aid in skin healing.

The Cosmelan 2 homecare cream is given to you at your LED light session and is to be applied morning and night for the first 3 months. This cream is applied like a serum and is important it is continued for the full 3 months to achieve best results.

The price

The price of the Cosmelan peel is $1800 which includes your pre and post care products worth over $1000, the resurfacing peel and homecare prep, application of the initial Cosmelan Peel and post peel LED light session. (As always/Afterpay/Laybuy is available for all treatments/products.)

The results

Within a week, clients will see skin blemishes begin to fade significantly, and a brighter complexion will break through.

After a couple of weeks, the skin will take on a dramatically shinier, healthier glow.

These results will continue to improve even further over the following weeks when the full benefits of a Cosmelan Peel can be seen.

Once your 3 month treatment plan is completed we recommend you continue to use professional home care products consisting of Vitamin C in the morning, Vitamin A in the evening, a pigment inhibitor (such as the Cosmedix Simply Brilliant) and regular/frequent sunscreen application.

Whilst Cosmelan is an effective treatment, there is no guarantee of permanent results. Your pigment may return over time, especially with UV exposure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Cosmelan work?
Cosmelan works to correct hyperpigmentation while also regulating the overproduction of melanin in the melanocytes, preventing further pigmentation. It has a powerful combination of both pigment lighteners and pigment suppressors including kojic acid, azelaic acid, phytic acid, ascorbic acid and arbutine. Because the Cosmelan Depigmentation treatment is safe for all ethnicities and skin tones, anyone seeking out a fresher, more even complexion is an ideal candidate.
Is there anyone who should NOT receive a Cosmelan Peel?
If you are pregnant, nursing, are experiencing active rosacea, or have been using Accutane in the last six months, the Cosmelan Peel should be postponed.
